This is my Favorite Prince book. It contains many cool quotes and facts about his early life that I've found nowhere else.
I still use this as a reference even though its seen alot of mileage.

    I have a 1989ish reprint from Faber &Faber
This is simply and easily the best Bio of the Man till now (Sorry Per this is better then DMSR which just accounts that happenings)
Pop Life through Dave Hill tries to understand the Man by talking to anyone conected to Prince that is willing to talk including a quiet candy interview with a pre-NPG Sonny T whom feels left behind by the man who took so many lessons in music from him.

A brilliant Book and unusally enough for a Prince bio it is well written as well.

I still refer to the recording chronology in the back... it's my Prince bible just for that, let alone the great info in the book

Ever since reading it, I remain convinced that 1986 was the most amazing single year in Prince recordings. Nor only 95% of the tracks on Crystal Sign Factory, but throw in Madhouse, the Hit & Run tour...wow. Then you read the book and realise how that year was both the peak of the "Revolution involvement" as well his return to pure solo work....Don't get this old man started oldz ...

just pick up the book if you have a chance

Agree that this is one of the best Prince books out there, along with Dance Music Sex Romance by Per Nilsen. Both capture the spectacular rise in Prince's early career and for those of us that were there at the time are nostalgic wallowing documentaries. Great stuff.

Maceo is embarrassed to admit that the appendix he refered to above is in Dance Music Sex Romance lol!
